The Centre for Monitoring Election Violence (CMEV) has revealed that the National Election Commission has incurred a total cost of nearly Rs.8.5 billion for the General Elections 2020, which will be held tomorrow (05).
The election monitoring body made the observation, issuing a comparison chart highlighting the costs of elections from 2004 to 2020.
The three (03) key facts that contribute to the total cost of nearly Rs. 8.5 billion for the 2020 General Elections are as follows.
- Number of registered voters: 16,263,885
- Cost per voter: Rs. 523
- Cost per elected representative: Rs. 37,777,778
