Former minister Rishad Bathiudeen has been named as the fifth suspect of the case over the death of a 16-year-old domestic aide at his house.
The previous four suspects of the case, including Bathiudeen’s wife, were ordered to be remanded further until Sep. 06, after the case was taken up before the Colombo Magistrate’ Court today (23).
The 16-year old, identified as Jude Kumar Ishalini, succumbed to severe burn injuries on July 15, while being treated at the Colombo National Hospital since July 03.
The JMO who conducted the post-mortem on the girl’s death concluded that she had been sexually exploited.
